Remember what joy feels like?
These days it can be buried pretty deeply…Omnipresent (and oppressive) technology. Juggling career with parenting. Recess cut from our kids’ school days. Basic things like friendship hacked by our frantic pace. Multi-tasking. Stress. Fragmented attention. It saps our sense of wonder. We forget what fulfills us. Or to quote the English band Blur: “Modern life is rubbish.”
If any of this resonates with you, hear us out. We have a proposal. Join is in Big Sur, April 6-10th for “World Enough & Time: On Creativity and Slowing Down,” an enriching workshop hosted by acclaimed writer Christian McEwen at the Big Sur Lodge. Register here.
More than just a break, this time will give you a road map to making different choices and championing the creative being you are meant to be.
About the Workshop
Here’s what we can promise you: A uniquely structured workshop format that’s part meditation, part artistic retreat, the power of
which lies in its deceivingly light touch. Amazing people (even friends for life!) The quiet of the redwood forest. Meals, entertainment, and lodging in a world-famous artist’s retreat. Incredible food and (possibly) incredible entertainment.
Learn how to find time. Write and draw in your private journal, draft poems, share stories, reconnect to the natural world, turn off your smart phone (we dare you!) and for goodness sakes, slow down! There could be no better place than the peace and majesty of Big Sur to sink into this medicine for the heart.
Reconnect With Your Creative Spirit
Whether or not you define yourself as a professional artist or writer, “World Enough” offers you the chance to reconnect to your craft in a steady, meaningful way, reinforcing the deep joy of what you do.
The workshop is for those of us who’ve been enduring an ever-busier, ever more-fragmented daily life, and whose intuition is nagging us to stop. It’s for those who ache for the opportunity to slow down, to make more space for contemplation and creative work. In this workshop, you will remind yourself how best to sustain your soulful heart in a depleted world.
The benefits of truly slowing down go well beyond personal ease-of-being. In nourishing yourself, you also nourish others, and contribute to a just and sustainable future. Each of us can help restore the world, one moment at a time.
“Out of this quiet, the world starts to emerge.” – artist and teacher Barbara Bash
